The first thing that needs to happen is for the judiciary to complete the process of sentencing those who rigged the elections and committed illegalities. It was Prime Minister Recean’s answer to the question of why Gagauzia’s Bashkan, Evghenia Gutul, still needs to be approved as a member of the Moldovan Government.
“The first thing that needs to happen is for the judiciary to complete the process, so to speak, of convicting those who have cheated and committed illegalities. In my opinion, we must treat the Gagauz people of the Republic of Moldova with respect, and that is why the first and foremost thing that must happen is that those who have committed fraud and illegalities must be punished,” said Dorin Recean at today’s sitting of the Parliament.
Evghenia Gutul was sworn in as the Gagauz autonomy’s Bashkan on 19 July 2023.

We also note that President Sandu has not yet signed the decree that the Bashkan of Gagauzia will be part of the Government led by Dorin Recean.
