VinOpera 2023: A Harmonious Fusion of Classical Music, Rock, and Folklore in its 6th Edition

The “Constantin Mimi” Foundation has unveiled the schedule for the sixth edition of the VinOpera International Classical Music Festival 2023. The event will take place from August 30 to September 1, in three different locations within the Anenii Noi district. This year’s festival presents a captivating blend of classical music, rock, and folklore through three recitals – two free performances in the villages of Varnița and Bulboaca, and a symphonic concert at Castel Mimi, which requires an admission ticket.

Distinguished artists from the Romanian and Moldovan Opera will grace the festival stage. Two orchestras – the National Opera of Bucharest and the “Serghei Lunchevici” Philharmonic from Chișinău – will be led by the accomplished conductor, Maestro of the Chorus of the National Opera of Bucharest, General Director of the National Opera in Bucharest, Daniel Jinga.

Esteemed laureates from both sides of the Prut River – Mădălina Barbu, Lilia Istratii, Iordache Basalic, and Dumitru Mîțu – will deliver exceptional performances for the audience.

This year’s edition offers a unique blend of classical, rock, and folk music, featuring artists such as “Gândul Mâței Band,” the “Plăieșii” Ethnofolk Ensemble, the master of the pan flute and Meritorious Artist of the Republic of Moldova, Constantin Moscovici, and the Felicia Dunaf Band.

Cristina Frolov, President of the “Constantin Mimi” Foundation, announced that the 2023 VinOpera International Festival has been expanded to be more accessible to the general public and to promote the localities of Bulboaca and Varnița.

“This event is of major importance for the ‘Constantin Mimi’ Foundation and beyond, as it has shown that it contributes to the development of the region as an attractive tourist destination and, ultimately, to the promotion of the country’s image. In partnership with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, a new tourist route will be launched in the region. This will develop the respective villages by attracting investments in sustainable and inclusive tourism. It is important for us to promote the region as a new attractive destination for both local and international tourists, to diversify the tourist offer of the Republic of Moldova, and to highlight the region as an area with potential for attracting investments in cultural and tourism sectors,” stated Cristina Frolov, President of the “Constantin Mimi” Foundation.

The 2023 VinOpera International Festival is organized by the “Constantin Mimi” Foundation, funded by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova, the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu,” and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova. The event promotes sustainability, with one of the recitals being exclusively powered by renewable sources.

“We are thrilled to emphasize that the VinOpera International Festival stands out for its sustainability concept, demonstrating that cultural events can be attractive and sustainable at the same time. We encourage our audience to adopt these practices that are closely aligned with the environment. We will provide a wine train, allowing 500 cars to remain in Chișinău, reducing their impact on the environment. Additionally, we will use renewable solar energy at the event, thanks to Castel Mimi’s efforts in recent years to become a sustainable tourist destination,” added Cristina Frolov.
