The International Festival of Classical Music “VinOpera” reaches its 7th edition this year. In an interview with realitatea.md, Cristina Frolov, president of the “Constantin Mimi” Foundation and the event organizer, told how the idea of creating a cultural event that would highlight classical music and wine came about.
“The initiative was the brainchild of Eugen Doga, who, while visiting the Castel Mimi, exclaimed: ‘These walls sing.’ The inspiration also came from Andrea Bocelli’s concerts organized in his native region to promote it and support the local community. Through “VinOpera,” we have brought good music closer to the people, bringing it closer to their homes as the event has spread to the villages. We are glad to be able to organize free concerts for rural audiences thirsty for quality music”, says Cristina Frolov, President of the “Constantin Mimi” Foundation.
Last year’s event was for the first time in three venues, and two of them, in the villages of Varnitsa and Bulboaca, were free of charge. The tradition continues this year. The gala event will be on September 6 at the Castel Mimi and on September 14 and 15 – in the surrounding villages. All the events will include wine tastings and a new project, created especially for “VinOpera,” together with the National Philharmonic Orchestra “Sergei Lunchevich” and maestro Mihail Agafitsa.

“The program of this year’s edition includes three events, two of which will be held free of charge in villages in valuable historical locations. The festival starts with an extraordinary classical concert at the Castel Mimi, where the best Romanian-Swiss soprano, laureate of the International Opera Prize “Oscar della Lirica” – Elena Mosuc, will take the stage, accompanied by the Orchestra of the National Opera and Ballet Theater “Maria Bieshu.” There will also be an opening of the best wines from small but renowned Moldovan producers. Two other concerts will take place in the village of Bulboaca, in the courtyard of the railway station, which is a historical monument, and in the heart of the village of Telitsa, a picturesque place on the banks of the Nistru river. On this occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova, which supported us and thanks to which we managed to extend the festival for three days, and to bring “VinOpera” to the villages. Without the support of the Romanian Government, we would not have been able to organize such a large-scale event with such famous artists, with performances to which anyone who wishes to attend can have free access,” says Cristina Frolov.
Realitatea Press Group is a media partner of “VinOpera.” Stay tuned for more details about the concerts and artists during the three-day event.
