The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Bulgaria, North Macedonia, and Albania has warned Moldovan citizens who plan to travel to or transit through North Macedonia about possible disruptions at border crossings caused by announced protests by freight transport associations.

According to the embassy, demonstrations may take place at the Deve Bair, Delchevo, Novo Selo, Dojran, Bogorodica, Medzitlija, Kjafasan, Blace, and Blato border crossing points starting on January 26, 2026, and may last up to seven days.

Protests by transport operators from Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro have blocked several border crossings for the movement of goods to and from the European Union. As a result, authorities will restrict freight traffic on both entry and exit, except for shipments of medicines, live animals, or transport with special security status.

Authorities have confirmed that passenger traffic and the movement of private vehicles will continue without restrictions at all border crossing points. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Moldovan citizens avoid the affected border areas whenever possible, closely monitor traffic updates, and follow the instructions of local authorities and law enforcement agencies.
