Residents of Chisinau will pay more for water supply and sewerage services after the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) approved new tariffs for S.A. Apă-Canal Chisinau during its meeting on August 4.
Under the decision, the tariff for drinking water supply has increased from 12.99 lei to 14.03 lei per cubic meter, representing an increase of 1.04 lei, or approximately 8%.
Sewerage services for household consumers will also become more expensive. The tariff has been raised from 5.63 lei to 6.63 lei per cubic meter, an increase of 1 leu, or about 17.8%.
For non-household consumers, ANRE approved a tariff of 10.16 lei/m³, while consumers located outside the operator’s service area will pay 7.40 lei/m³.
According to the explanatory note published by ANRE, the operator had requested even higher tariffs—15.55 lei/m³ for drinking water and 7.68 lei/m³ for sewerage services.
Following its review of the calculations, however, the regulator reduced the proposed tariff levels and cut the operator’s requested regulated revenue by more than 72 million lei after excluding expenses it considered unjustified.
ANRE’s documents also show that the approved tariffs take into account water losses of 17.25 million cubic meters, representing 25.9% of the total volume of water extracted, as well as tariff deviations accumulated between 2017 and 2023.
