“We Want Stronger Trade and Security Cooperation”: Maia Sandu Meets Erdogan at Antalya Forum

Maia Sandu took part in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum held in Antalya, at the invitation of Recep Tayyip Erdogan. On the sidelines of the event, the Moldovan head of state held a series of bilateral meetings with regional leaders.

During talks with Erdogan, Sandu discussed regional security, as well as opportunities to expand trade and investment between Republic of Moldova and Turkey. The discussions also touched on the Gagauzia region, highlighted as a bridge for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

In her meeting with Ilham Aliyev, Sandu emphasized Azerbaijan’s role as a key partner in energy and regional stability, with both sides expressing interest in deepening bilateral relations.

The Moldovan president also met with Nataša Pirc Musar, where discussions focused on Moldova’s European integration path. Sandu described Slovenia as a reliable partner supporting Moldova’s EU aspirations.

In talks with Denis Bećirović, the two officials exchanged views on their countries’ experiences in the EU accession process, underlining the importance of cooperation and shared progress on the European path.

The Antalya Diplomacy Forum brings together political leaders, diplomats, and international experts, serving as a platform for dialogue on regional and global challenges, alongside bilateral meetings between heads of state and government.
