Who became the new head of the International Monetary Fund office in Moldova?

Permanent Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Rogers Chavani is ending his mandate in the Republic of Moldova, and his place will be taken by Svetlana Cherovic, who is on a study visit to Chisinau from 12 to 15 June.

“We welcomed Svetlana Cerovic and highly appreciated the support offered by the IMF to the Republic of Moldova in several areas to solve economic problems and promote financial stability. We reaffirmed our commitment to economic reforms and expressed confidence that close cooperation with the IMF will contribute to strengthening economic resilience and improving the well-being of the population of the Republic of Moldova,” Economy Minister Dumitru Alaiba said in a statement after meeting with the new IMF representative in the Republic of Moldova.

Svetlana Cherovic started her career at the Central Bank of Montenegro, where she worked in the Department of Research and Statistics (2001-2007), and from 2007 to the present, she has been working at the IMF, where she has held several positions. The last was the position of senior economist. Cherovich has held this post since 2019.
