Over 45,000 Romanian citizens from the Republic of Moldova voted for Elena Lasconi, the former journalist and candidate of the Save Romania Union (SRU), in Romania’s presidential elections. According to official data, she secured 56.65% of the vote.
Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca received over 16,000 votes, or 20.1%, while Marcel Ciolacu came in third with more than 5,000 votes, accounting for 6.91%.

It is worth noting that for Romania’s presidential elections, 59 polling stations were set up in the Republic of Moldova, where 80,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship went to vote.
We remind you that, according to preliminary official data, Calin Georgescu and Elena Lasconi will face off in the second round of the presidential elections, scheduled for December 8, 2024. In the first round, Georgescu secured 22.95% of the votes, while Lasconi garnered 19.17%.
