According to the law, Moldova’s president must remain politically neutral and cannot be a member of a party. Over the weekend, Maia Sandu attended the annual conference of the “Action and Solidarity” Party, and the presidential administration offered explanations regarding her presence at the event.
The Presidential spokesperson, Igor Zaharov, stated that the head of state received an invitation from the party leadership. He also noted that Maia Sandu founded the political party.
“Maia Sandu is the founder of the Action and Solidarity Party. The party leadership invited the head of state to speak about the importance of maintaining Moldova’s European course and ensuring peace and stability in the country,” emphasized Igor Zaharov.
