Within the framework of the 10th anniversary of the National Army’s participation in the peacekeeping mission. Defense Minister Anatolii Nosatii paid a working visit to Kosovo

Minister of Defence Anatoly Nosatii paid a working visit to the Kosovo region of operations on 4-6 March, in the context of the 10th anniversary of the National Army’s participation in the KFOR peacekeeping mission.

During the first part of the visit, Anatoly Nosatii met with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General – Head of the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), Caroline Ziadeh, in Pristina. During the dialogue, the Minister of Defence reiterated the strategic objective of intensifying cooperation with international organisations, including the United Nations and the North Atlantic Alliance and expanding our country’s contribution to international peace and security.

At the same time, the parties discussed regional security, the situation in the Western Balkans region and the role of UNMIK and KFOR missions in creating a safe and secure environment for the population in the area of responsibility.

Later, Minister Nosatii met at KFOR headquarters in Camp Film City in Pristina with the Deputy Commander of the KFOR mission, Brigadier General Federico Bernacca, with whom he discussed the performance of the 20 Moldovan contingents during their 10-year presence in the Kosovo peacekeeping operation.

In the second part of the day, Minister Nosaty also visited the multinational base Camp Vilaggio Italy, where the National Army contingent is deployed. He met with the 41 Moldovan military personnel in Pech, Kosovo. He discussed their missions, challenges and how they interact with colleagues from other contingents.

8 March 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the National Army’s participation in the KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. So far, more than 800 Moldovan soldiers have been deployed in this operation.
