Women’s retirement age has changed

From July 1, the age of granting retirement pensions for women is 61 years, and the full insurance length of service is 34 years. For men, the retirement age remains unchanged at 63 years and the length of service at 34 years, under the conditions established on July 1, 2019.

Petru Socolan, Head of the Information and Communication Department at the National Social Insurance House (NSIH), highlighted that women who have raised and educated five or more children up to 8 years are eligible for a reduced standard retirement age. Their retirement age is reduced by three years, making it 58 years.

“The pension is awarded for life if the conditions for retirement are met, provided the individual has submitted the application and required documents within 90 days of the date of fulfillment. If the application period exceeds 90 days, the pension is granted from when the last necessary act is submitted. The review period lasts 60 days from the date of application submission with all necessary documents,” Petru Sokolan specified.

Also, based on the full length of service provided for women from July 1, 2023, when establishing an early pension for a long working life, they must confirm 37 years of service. For men, the length of service remains unchanged – 39 years.

To check the retirement age, citizens can use the electronic service “Pension Age Calculator” available on the official website of the NSIF www.cnas.gov.md, in the section “Electronic services provided by the NSIF”. This service allows users to find out the year they can apply for retirement pension,” Petru Sokolan noted.
