Wrestler Victor Ciobanu became European vice-champion

Greco-Roman wrestler Victor Ciobanu has become European vice-champion among seniors.

The disciple of coach Mihail Cucu won the silver medal in the continental competition after losing in the last act of the up to 60 kg weight category to Azerbaijan’s Nihat Zahid Mammadli.

Victor Ciobanu defeated Ukrainian Victor Petryk (12-3) and Georgian Georgij Tibilov (8-0), and in the semi-finals, he defeated Sadyk Lalaev (2-2), an athlete who competed under a neutral flag at the European Championships in Romania.

The European Wrestling Championships will be held in Bucharest, Romania, from 12-18 February.
