The Republic of Moldova intends to open its embassy in India and Egypt. The draft of the document was developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and submitted for public discussion.
According to representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, the decision to open two more embassies was made due to the need to strengthen the diplomatic presence of the Republic of Moldova abroad to promote the interests of the state, including economic ones, on a wider territory.
If the authorities create an embassy in Egypt, it will become the first diplomatic mission of the Republic of Moldova on the African continent. According to the ministry, the embassy will promote the interests of the state in cooperation with the Arab world, and it will also promote Moldovan products on the market of Egypt and African countries.
India has only an honorary consulate – the embassy is based in Baku (Azerbaijan). As for Egypt, Moldova does not have a diplomatic representation in this country.
