Chisinau Airport is intensively preparing to receive high-ranking guests at the Summit on June 1

Airport workers are preparing to ensure that the main air gateway to Moldova is ready to receive 50 European leaders who will attend the June 1 European Political Community Summit.

The safety of official flights, the safety of foreign guests, and their comfort are a priority for airport employees who know that this will be one of the most important missions of their careers.

Over the past two months, the leadership of the Chisinau airport has been meeting every few days to record the progress made and set the following tasks for preparing the airport for the summit of the European Political Community.

About 600 people are involved in these works. Runways, taxiways, and parking areas are in good condition. Workers are currently mowing grass around the perimeter of the airport.

“We started preparing a month ago. We started preparing concrete and asphalt pavements to ensure flight safety and aircraft maintenance. A week ago, we started marking both the new and old lanes. We have about 50,000 square meters for painting the entire surface of the airfield,” said the head of the airfield service.

About 40 planes of official delegations should land on May 31 and June 1 at the airport of the capital of the Republic of Moldova.

Moldova is set to host the European Political Community Summit on June 1st, 2023, an event that will bring together nearly 50 leaders of states and around 1,000 foreign journalists. The European Political Community is a forum created last year, where European leaders discuss solutions to the most urgent problems facing Europe, such as security, stability, and energy resilience.

The Summit will be covered extensively by the media, with Realitatea, one of Moldova’s leading news agencies, providing up-to-date and accurate information about the event. For readers of realitatea.md, bani.md, rupor.md, rlive.md, and moldovalive.md, a separate category dedicated to the Summit has been created.
