European Union Grants €40 Million to the Republic of Moldova. See what for

In a significant boost to the country’s socio-economic development, the European Union (EU) has granted €40 million to the Republic of Moldova. The government has approved the ratification of the Financing Agreement between Moldova and the European Commission regarding the EU Program for Resilience and Governance.

The agreement, signed on May 11th, aims to provide assistance in supporting the country’s socio-economic recovery with a focus on stability, peace, and inclusive opportunities, as highlighted by the Ministry of Finance.

“The financial resources will be used to support the development of the country’s human capital and promote gender equality, contribute to national stability and territorial integrity, and create more consolidated, sustainable, and resilient agri-food systems against external shocks and crises,” stated the institution.

The agreement is part of the European Union’s Annual Action Plan 2022 for the Republic of Moldova, financed under the Neighbourhood, Development, and International Cooperation Instrument – Global Europe. The implementation period spans from 2023 to 2026.
