Students from the Republic of Moldova will have the opportunity to participate in the FLEX Academic Exchange Program, funded by the US Government. As a result, selected students will have the chance to live with an American host family and study at a school in the USA for the academic year 2024-2025.
The competition is open to students in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades who meet several conditions, including being citizens of the Republic of Moldova, born between January 1, 2007, and July 15, 2009, studying the English language, meeting the requirements for obtaining a US visa, and having spent no more than three months in the USA during the last five years.
Furthermore, students with disabilities born between February 15, 2006, and July 15, 2009 are also eligible to participate in the FLEX program. In this context, special arrangements will be made to test students with visual, hearing, and/or other disabilities.
Participation is free, and it can be done from any location where students have access to the internet.
The FLEX recruitment process consists of three rigorous testing rounds, even if participants will not be physically present for testing. The first round of testing is open to all applicants who meet the eligibility criteria mentioned above and will take place from August to September 28, 2023. It includes an online preliminary application and three essay questions that must be submitted within 10 days of starting the online application. Eligible applicants can apply at www.discoverflex.org/apply.
After submitting the preliminary application, selected students will be invited via email to participate in the second round, which consists of an online English language proficiency test. The third and final testing round starts in November-December 2023. It includes an interview, three additional essay questions, a more comprehensive English language test, and the main application.
