Chisinau has demanded from Tel Aviv the execution of the verdict handed down in the name of Ilan Shor, Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru emphasized during the program “Punctul pe azi” on TVR Moldova. The official said that the court’s decision was presented in full and in a translated form, but the Israeli authorities have yet to give an official response. The former MP was sentenced in Moldova to 15 years in prison.
“Following the decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, we submitted an updated extradition request for the execution of the sentence. In the same way, I sent the full, motivated, and translated judgment. The Israeli authorities needed to see the entire decision to ensure the procedure was followed. The Israeli authorities are taking this request very seriously. We do not have a decision on this yet. We have developed and want to conclude a memorandum of cooperation with the Israeli authorities, including in the justice field,” said Veronica Mihailov-Moraru.
Recall, earlier, speaking about the possible imprisonment of Shor in Israel, Mihailov-Moraru mentioned that the request could also be rejected. However, she notes that Tel Aviv also has precedents for the extradition of Israeli citizens convicted in other states.
