The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, gave a speech at the meeting of the G7 foreign ministers, in which he participated, together with counterparts from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. North, the United States of America, the High Representative of the European Union, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The head of diplomacy in Chisinau expressed concern over the serious events taking place in Ukraine, noting that the support of external partners, including G7 countries, is the only way to strengthen our country’s internal capacity to manage the crisis, the instability of energy prices, the economic impact of supply chains, rising prices and inflation caused by external factors, and the authorities’ handling of the humanitarian crisis.
Popescu also told foreign ministers that, despite the challenges mentioned, “the government is oriented towards the Europeanization of the country, citizens’ quality of life improvement and bringing the Republic of Moldova closer to European standards.”
“The European project for the Republic of Moldova means a process of transformation and modernization of institutions, strengthening democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights. The European Union was, is and remains the most important peace project on the European continent, and the future of our democracy, the future of our country is anchored in our irreversible European path “, the Moldovan official pointed out.
At the same time, the discussions addressed issues related to regional security and ways to strengthen the socio-economic resilience of our country.
