Over one hundred thousand visitors are expected this year at National Wine Day, which will be celebrated on October 7-8. The current edition will take place under the theme “Our Wine Conquers the World.” The event will be held at the Great National Assembly Square and at wineries across the country.
The 22nd edition of National Wine Day will bring together approximately one hundred winemakers, gathered under the country’s wine brand “Our Wine Conquers the World,” who will showcase their products.
According to the organizers, those who purchase the Taster’s Pass, priced at 250 lei, will be able to taste 12 wines. It will be valid for the two days of the event.
60% of the wines produced in the Republic of Moldova are exported to European Union countries, which is a success for the Republic of Moldova, said Elizaveta Breahnă, the director of the National Vine and Wine Office, at a press conference today. Over 100,000 visitors are expected at the event, including foreign tourists.
National Wine Day is a synthesis of the work of viticulturists and winemakers, and Moldovan wine is the most representative Ambassador of Moldova worldwide, said Vladimir Bolea, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry.
The Republic of Moldova is among the top 20 wine-producing countries, and it is also an important exporter. The wine industry is one of the key sectors of our economy. Moldovan wines are exported to 75 countries, with an average selling price of about two dollars per liter, according to authorities. There are 260 wineries registered in our country.
