Constitutional Court Alows Former ŞOR Party Members to Run in Elections

On Tuesday, October 3rd, the Constitutional Court (CCM) accepted the motion filed by Marina Tauber and her colleagues, Reghina Apostolova, Vadim Fotescu, Denis Ulanov, and Petru Jardan, members of the former unconstitutional Party ŞOR, declaring Article 16 of the Electoral Code unconstitutional. This means that they have the right to participate in elections, including the general local elections scheduled for November 5, 2023.

As a result, it is evident that representatives of the former unconstitutional Party ŞOR can submit their documents to be registered as candidates for the positions of certain Mayoralties in the upcoming general local elections on November 5, 2023. The deadline for submitting documents for registration as electoral competitors is October 6, 2023, inclusive, which is no later than 30 days before the election day.
