Metsola on the sidelines of the European Union Council: We want to open negotiations with Moldova

Roberta Metsola supports the start of negotiations about Moldova’s and Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. In talks with journalists, the president of the European Parliament also said that Romania should be admitted to the Schengen zone.

According to the European official, the Union’s position is clear, and the start of accession negotiations will benefit everyone.

“This is a historic summit. The enlargement is clear. It will be a win-win situation. Ukraine should have moral, political, and financial support because it deserves it. We need it for our security. For Moldova, for Bosnia and Herzegovina. We would also like, and I say this at every European Council, a decision on Romania and Bulgaria to join the Schengen area,” Metsola said.
