The ODE, one of the state’s most successful institutions, is being driven out of its headquarters. Who will take its place

The Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship (ODE) of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitisation (MDED) has been ordered by the Government to vacate its current premises as a matter of urgency.

This, just two months after the completion of capital repairs in the ODA offices, reports  mold-street.

“For the purpose of relocating the Ministry of Energy to the building at 134 Stefan cel Mare È™i Sfânt Street, we respectfully request in the near future (26.02.2024) to take the necessary actions to relocate the employees of the Entrepreneurship Development Organization to the building managed by the public institution “Public Services Agency” located at the address mun. Chisinau, Ghioceilor Street, no.1,” reads the notice signed electronically by Artur Mija, Secretary General of the Government.

Why the Government has decided that the ODA must leave office

From the document sent to “mold-street” address by anonymous mail, it appears that the public institution ODE has only one week to comply with the requirements imposed by the Government. The message also includes a copy of a collective petition signed by 67 ODAE employees and sent to the Presidency, the Parliament, the Government, the European Union Delegation in Chisinau, USAID, the World Bank, and the German Embassy. According to the petition, as early as February 16, the Ministry of Economic Development (Deputy Prime Minister Alaiba) “received a verbal request from the ODA about the need to vacate the spaces”.

The reason given is that “the Ministry of Energy’s team is to move from Government House to the current ODE headquarters”. This has been confirmed by representatives of the Ministry of Energy, who claim, however, that for almost a year now they have been crammed into several offices in Government House and other state-owned buildings, which affects the functionality of the institution, i.e. they need premises.

It will seriously affect the work of the ODE

In the petition, the ODE collective argues that the redeployment of ODE employees will disrupt the work of the institution for several months, i.e. it will not be able to fulfill its “mission to support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises by promoting entrepreneurial culture, providing financial assistance, issuing state financial guarantees and providing business support infrastructure”.

According to the petition, the process of relocating the ODE headquarters will be accompanied by “the distortion of day-to-day business by directing all resources towards vacating the current space and fitting out the new one,”  read the full story on  mold-street.
