Moldova has taken a 150-million-euro loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The agreement was signed in London on January 22 by Infrastructure Minister Andrei Spinu, and the document will be sent to Parliament for ratification.
According to the agreement, the loan is to be repaid until 2041. It will be used for widening the center of Chisinau to four lanes on an 8-kilometer stretch. The money will also be used to rehabilitate 85 kilometers of road along the route: the border with Romania – Leuseni – Chisinau – Dubasari – the border with Ukraine.
The loan will be transferred to Moldova in two installments: 90 and 60 million euros. The minimum amount to be spent is 250,000 lei or €40,000 against any request of the Moldovan authorities, depending on the category of goods and services that will be covered by the financial resources borrowed from the EBRD.
