Moldova commemorates its 30th anniversary of joining the Partnership for Peace initiative, a significant milestone marked today with the launch of a commemorative postage stamp by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The event, graced by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Anatolie Nosatii, Minister of Defense, and the head of the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau, Michaela Guerard Simak, witnessed the presence of diplomatic representatives from member states of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Reflecting on three decades of partnership, Popsoi emphasized the invaluable NATO’s support in safeguarding Moldova’s independence and territorial integrity. “Throughout these 30 years, NATO has stood as a steadfast ally, providing unwavering political support for our sovereignty. Our collaboration has yielded significant strides in science and innovation and bolstered the capabilities of our national army. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners for their steadfast collaboration, which has benefited our citizens. Today, as we commemorate this enduring partnership, we unveil this commemorative postage stamp, ensuring this milestone is etched into history,” stated Popsoi.

Echoing these sentiments, Anatolie Nosatii underscored the pivotal role of the partnership in Moldova’s defense landscape. “The Partnership for Peace Program has been instrumental in fortifying our defense capabilities and fostering a well-trained military force capable of upholding peace and stability. Our strategic cooperation with NATO members and partner countries has facilitated the exchange of expertise, joint exercises, and assistance in defense reforms. Strengthening this partnership remains paramount for ensuring security and stability,” affirmed Nosatii.
Since its accession on March 16, 1994, following the signing of the Framework Document, Moldova has leveraged its participation in the partnership to enhance its national security and defense capabilities. The framework offers Moldova access to many resources, including expertise, training, language programs for military officers, and avenues for political, technical, and financial aid.
