(VIDEO) The CEC surprises for all voters. They will receive stickers and bracelets with the inscription “I voted”

Voters going to polling stations on October 20 will receive stickers and wristbands with the inscription “I voted.” In 2024, the Central Election Commission (CEC) will replace the stamps on ID cards with themed stickers for citizens.

“For the first time, the CEC is providing voters who will exercise their right to vote and cast their ballot on October 20 with stickers with the marking “I voted!”, thus replacing the old security stamp affixed to the ID documents presented by voters. It is a modern approach to encourage the civic involvement of citizens in the voting process in the republican constitutional referendum and presidential elections,” the authority said.

The gesture will be a message of gratitude from CEC representatives to the citizens who turned out to vote. At the same time, members of the Commission believe that the sticker worn on the chest will encourage voter turnout.

For the approximately 42,000 young people going to the polls for the first time, CEC representatives have prepared phosphorescent bracelets with the inscription “My first vote – October 20, 2024”.

“This bracelet is more than an accessory. It is a symbol of civic engagement and responsibility. Each bracelet glows as a symbol of democracy, reminding young people that voting is a vital step in shaping their future. This moment affirms their right to be heard and their power to make a difference in the community,” said CEC members.

As a reminder, on October 20, 2024, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova are to elect their president and say whether they support the country’s EU membership in the republican constitutional referendum. Around 3 million people will vote at the polling stations.
