The EU Parliament approved Moldova’s growth plan: The first tranche of the €1.9 billion package will be provided in April

The EU Parliament has approved Moldova’s growth plan, granting a €1.9 billion support package for the country. Of the 660 MEPs present, 499 voted in favor of the initiative. Authorities expect to transfer the first tranche in April.

The European Parliament will allocate the funds to accelerate socio-economic reforms, strengthen resilience, advance European integration, and mitigate the impact of the war in Ukraine on Moldova.

EU member states have agreed to provide €520 million in grants and €1.5 billion in low-interest loans. This adjustment ensures that Moldova can implement reforms without accumulating unsustainable debt.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the €1.8 billion aid package for Moldova on October 10, 2024. She announced it during her official visit to Chisinau. In February 2025, the support amount was later increased.
