The Republic of Moldova accedes to The Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail. Therefore, Moldova will apply international standards CIV on passenger transport and CIM – on freight transport.
Sixty-two deputies approved in the first reading the draft law in this regard. The objective of the Convention is to develop and strengthen cooperation in the field of rail transport and to ensure compliance with international standards.

Our country’s accession to this convention will result in increased competitiveness on routes in transit of goods. The authorities estimate that in the Republic of Moldova, the volume of goods in transit could increase by 30% annually, which is about 606.3 thousand tons.
OTIF dates since 1985. It currently has 50 Member States in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
