Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu Meets Moldovan Community During Visit to Ireland

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu paid a working visit to Ireland from June 30 to July 3, during which he met with Moldovans living in Dublin and its surrounding areas, including students, entrepreneurs, and active members of the diaspora.

Discussions during the meetings focused on Moldova’s political and economic situation, efforts to counter Russian propaganda, the country’s European integration process, and ongoing reforms in education, healthcare, and energy infrastructure.

“As always, I’m impressed—these are hardworking, engaged people, united and deeply connected to everything happening back home in Moldova,” Grosu said. “Only through unity and solidarity can we preserve peace and stay on the path to European integration.”

Grosu also spoke with Moldovan students studying IT, biochemistry, and management at Irish universities. The students expressed appreciation for the progress in Moldova’s education system and the new opportunities emerging from its EU accession efforts.

A key part of the visit was Grosu’s meeting with successful Moldovan entrepreneurs based in Ireland. Among them were brothers Sergiu and Lilian Munteanu, founders of the Moldova Shop chain with 26 stores, and Mihai Mazilu, head of a top IT company serving over 25,000 clients globally, including operations in Moldova.

“From my conversations with these successful entrepreneurs, I’ve understood just how much Moldovans are respected and valued in Ireland. Through their work, they are strengthening Moldova’s positive image abroad,” Grosu emphasized.
