On Wednesday, September 17, President Maia Sandu participated in the Romania–Republic of Moldova Economic Forum, which brought together entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals committed to economic development on both sides of the Prut River.

The President noted that economic ties between Romania and Moldova have strengthened significantly in recent years. Romania has become Moldova’s main investor, contributing over €250 million annually and operating more than 1,700 active companies in the country. Additionally, Moldovan companies in Romania provide over 20,000 jobs and generate a turnover of around €3 billion. Romania also remains the primary destination for Moldovan products, receiving more than 30% of the country’s exports.

“These figures not only reflect the longevity of our relationship but also show that Moldova is gradually becoming a more business-friendly country. This growth would not have been possible without jointly implementing projects with Romania that improve the lives of our people,” Sandu emphasized.
