Moldova’s Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii said that some journalists attending the government’s Cabinet meeting on 24 June had not completed compulsory military service, adding that the authorities would “correct” the situation over time.
The minister made the remarks when asked about the number of citizens who have not served in the armed forces. He did not specify what measures could be taken or provide a timeline for any potential action.
“There is a significant number, including some of you who are present here. We will correct this discrepancy over time,” Nosatii said.
The defence minister did not elaborate on how such a process would be implemented.
Nosatii also addressed ongoing reforms to the military pay and pension system, arguing that the changes are necessary, including those related to the retirement age of military personnel.
