Moldovan President Maia Sandu met with Christopher Smith, the new Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, for talks focused on the peaceful reintegration of the country and regional security.
According to the Presidential Administration, Chisinau’s priorities remain maintaining stability and security amid Russia’s war against Ukraine and ongoing hybrid attacks.
Moldova’s constitutional authorities seek a gradual and sustainable reintegration of the Transnistrian region “by bringing citizens from the Transnistrian region closer to the Republic of Moldova and through sectoral reintegration.”
Sandu highlighted the role of the OSCE Mission in facilitating dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol. She also spoke about the organization’s contribution to improving the human rights situation in the region and ensuring the right to study in Romanian.
The president congratulated Smith on his appointment and wished him success in his new mandate.
