One of the greatest filmmakers Moldova has given to world cinema is returning to the spotlight. On November 6, Emil Loteanu would have turned 90. To mark the anniversary, Realitatea Media Group is launching a major cultural initiative titled “Loteanu Week in Moldova.”
For an entire week, audiences will have the opportunity to rediscover the films that made cinematic history and brought Emil Loteanu’s name recognition beyond Moldova’s borders.
Every evening at 9:00 p.m., Realitatea TV will broadcast one of the renowned director’s iconic films: The Fiddlers, My Sweet and Tender Beast, The Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven and Anna Pavlova.
The campaign will officially begin on November 6 with a public event at Cineplex Loteanu, attended by representatives of the cultural and artistic community.
The event will also feature the launch of a photo album dedicated to the director’s life and work, the presentation of a commemorative coin, and a preview of a documentary about Emil Loteanu, directed by Max Ciorba.
The campaign will bring Loteanu’s films back to audiences both on television, through Realitatea TV, and on the big screen at the cinema bearing his name.
Through this initiative, Realitatea Media Group aims to bring renewed attention to the work of a director who transformed cinema into a universal language and placed Moldova on the international cultural map.
Emil Loteanu does not belong only to the past. His films remain part of Moldova’s cultural heritage, and today’s generations deserve the opportunity to discover them and keep his legacy alive.
Loteanu Week in Moldova – an invitation to reconnect with the cultural values that define us.
