The 21st edition of the National Wine Day will take place in the Great National Assembly Square, on October 1 and 2, under the slogan “My wine brings peace, pretends love” – ​​a call for solidarity with the entire wine sector and the effort submitted to the development of the sector. More than 80 wine producers from all over the country will come together to present their achievements and successes achieved during the last years.
Vladimir Bolea, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, noted that the Republic of Moldova is among the ten countries globally that are listed as “wine producing and exporting countries”. According to him, Moldova is fully associated with quality wines and the other branches of agriculture are to take over the experience of being associated with quality products. He also said that he promotes the responsible consumption of wine, which “in small doses works miracles for health.”
Elizaveta Breahnă, interim director of the Vine and Wine Office, said that a large number of small wine producers will participate in this year’s edition. At the same time, on September 29-20, a national competition will be organized, among the wines produced from indigenous varieties and not only, where jurors from nine countries will participate and only 30% of the participants will be awarded. Winemakers who contribute to the development of the wine industry will also receive diplomas of gratitude.

Elizaveta Breahnă claims that the National Wine Day will promote the quality and moderate consumption of wine. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in tastings, master classes, craft workshops, but also to participate in a program of big days with the participation of the most beloved artists in the country. The “taster’s book” will be on sale, and those who purchase it will receive a glass, and based on the tickets in the book, they will be able to taste 11 wines. Wineries will open their doors wide for visitors, where they will have the opportunity not only to taste wines, but also to walk the path of quality wine production.
Diana Lazăr, head of the Wine Industry Component, USAID “Performing Agriculture in Moldova” Project, said that over the years the quality of Moldovan wines has evolved remarkably, with more and more medals being awarded every year. She said that through the export of wine, all Moldovan wine producers send 60 million invitations annually, to more than 60 destinations in the world, with the urge to discover Moldova.
