An energy collaboration contract was signed between Moldova and Bulgaria

The Republic of Moldova signed today, August 27, a collaboration contract with BulgarTransgaz, the beneficiary, and signatory of the document being Energocom. The collaboration contract was signed at the Presidency in Chisinau, in the presence of the two heads of state – of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and Bulgaria, Rumen Radev.

The president of the country welcomed the signing of the contract between the two institutions.

“I welcome the signing of the collaboration contract between Energocom and Bulgartransgaz. It will strengthen our diversification of the natural gas market and strengthen our energy independence”, said Maia Sandu, during a press conference, after the signing of the collaboration contract, held alongside the Bulgarian president, Rumen Radev.

For his part, the Bulgarian president mentioned that Moldova and Bulgaria have had ties of friendship for centuries, and this year, when it is 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, together with Maia Sandu he reviewed all the signed agreements.

Rumen Radev specified that, by signing today’s contract between Energocom and Bulgartransgaz, the way is opened for Moldova to have access from the terminals in Turkey and Greece, and the Bulgarian gas pipeline will be able to be used as a way to transport gas to our country, but without the possibility of its storage.

In this context, the Bulgarian president mentioned that “it is important that we have possibilities” and asked the governments of the two countries to work more intensively on capitalizing on these opportunities.

Radev specified that, through the trans-Balkan pipeline, 15 billion cubic meters of natural gas are transported annually, of which Romania and Bulgaria benefit from 3 billion cubic meters.

More than that, the Bulgarian president said that he very much hopes that, after the discussions with Maia Sandu, the hours of Bulgarian education in the Republic of Moldova will increase, and the University of Taraclia will obtain a special status so that the Bulgarian traditions and values ​​of the ethnic groups in Bulgaria from our country.
