The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Bogdan Aurescu, repeatedly asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmitri Kuleba, to recognize the non-existence of the “Moldovan language”. The request was made by Aurescu at the meeting with Kuleba on Tuesday, November 29, at the NATO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, held in Bucharest.
During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs from NATO allied countries, the two ministers discussed the situation of critical infrastructure in Ukraine, especially the energy one.
Aurescu assured that Romania would continue along the lines of the numerous measures adopted at the national level to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian refugees. Also, the head of Romanian diplomacy reconfirmed the commitment to Romania’s involvement, together with the Western partners, in supporting the reconstruction effort of Ukraine.

The head of Romanian diplomacy also mentioned the launch of the Trilateral Romania – Republic of Moldova – Ukraine, at the level of foreign ministers, with the participation of energy ministers and representatives of energy companies, in September in Odesa. The two officials agreed to organize a new trilateral meeting in the near future.
In June 2021, Bogdan Aurescu asked Ukraine to recognize the non-existence of the “Moldovan language officially”. The request was made on the sidelines of the Diplomacy Forum in Antalya, during a discussion by the Foreign Ministers of Romania and Ukraine, Bogdan Aurescu and Dmitri Kuleba.
