Through the creation of the Waste Management Center in Stăuceni, authorities try to develop a centralized waste accumulation and sorting system. According to the state secretary of the Ministry of the Environment, Petru Tătaru, the goal of creating a modern waste management platform is to prevent the increase in the number of unauthorized landfills, notes ipn.md.
Previously, the presidential adviser on environmental issues, Iuliana Cantaragiu, explained that by creating a waste management center in Stăuceni, the people of the municipality of Chisinau, but also of the districts of Criuleni, Dubăsari, Străseni, Anenii Noi, Hâncești, Ialoveni will benefit from a civilized waste management service. The State Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment, says that the center will be equipped with modern technologies that will allow waste to be sorted.
“Our objective at Stăuceni is developing a platform through which we can attract people from different localities to accumulate their waste centrally. Respectively, we try to prevent an increase in the number of unauthorized landfills in the Chisinau area. We are proposing a modernized sorting mechanism, with modern technologies so as not to allow the placement of all waste in a chaotic manner”, said the state secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Petru Tătaru, in the “Obiectiv Comun” show on TVR Moldova.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Environment, the Government’s priority is the identification and liquidation by 2027 of all landfills that do not meet environmental requirements.
“The national waste management program envisages the development by 2027 of an integrated waste management system, efficient from an economic point of view and ensuring the fundamental rights of every citizen. We have an agreement with the EBRD, platforms will be built to manage the waste. We want to improve on the aspects of waste sorting, and the central points will collect the waste from several localities so that we do not allow an increase in the number of unauthorized dumpsters. We will move on to sorting waste and identifying waste that can be recycled in order to have a circular economy and in this way ensure the transition to the green economy”, explained State Secretary Petru Tătaru.

On February 2, the Parliament ratified the loan agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). According to the document, the financial institution lends the Chisinau authorities 25 million euros for the implementation of the “Solid waste in the Republic of Moldova” project.
Thus, the beneficiaries of the project will be the local public authorities and the population of the districts of Ungheni, Nisporeni, Călăraşi, Edineț, Dondușeni, Ocnița, Briceni, Cahul, Cantemir, Taraclia, as well as those of UTA Găgăuzia. The population of the respective localities will benefit from the selective collection of solid waste, and the focus will be on the transition to a circular economy.
