A first for Moldova: Domestic producers have obtained the right to export eggs and processed meat to the EU

Domestic producers have obtained the right to export to the EU table eggs, category 1, and processed poultry meat. The Government announces that the Regulations and amendments to European legislation, approved in March 2021, have been published.

“We inform you that the decision of the European Commission is a very important one and will contribute to the achievement of a priority national objective – the diversification of markets for poultry producers from the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the decision of the European Commission demonstrates that the national system of official control, implemented by the National Agency for Food Safety, is recognized by the European Union”, reports the Executive.

The process of obtaining the right to export to the EU the respective products from the Republic of Moldova was long, requiring the exchange of information, consultations and audit. At the same time, the European experts examined the compliance of the control systems in the Republic of Moldova.

Currently, 43 poultry breeding units and about 227,000 individual poultry breeding households operate in our country. The total number of heads reaches about six million.

Also, in the Republic of Moldova, there are 24 slaughterhouses for slaughtering birds, which annually supply about 45,000 tons of meat, as well as 12 egg collection centers.
