The draft ratification of the loan agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has been approved in the first reading. The Government of the Republic of Moldova borrows 300 million euros for the implementation of the project “Security of natural gas supply”.
The credit will be debated in two installments of 100 and 200 million euros. The money will be used to create strategic natural gas stocks and diversify the sources of supply.

By ratifying the loan agreement, the risks related to the possible limitations or stops in the supply of natural gas will be reduced in the context of the political situation and the evolution of the energy markets in the region, officials say. The ratification was supported by 55 parliamentarians.
