Municipal officials will adjust the draft budget for the capital city. They announced the decision during an operational meeting of City Hall services.

They said the measure is necessary because, starting in March 2026, the Republic of Moldova continues to face significant increases in fuel prices, and the municipality has renounced waste collection fees. At the same time, the city administration is implementing ongoing projects and is reviewing how these will be financed and executed.

“Given these two developments — the waste collection tax and the rise in fuel prices — a reassessment of budget indicators became necessary. I must reiterate that the draft budget for 2026 was developed based on price indicators from 2025. The situation has changed due to these increases, so the 2026 budget draft must be adjusted,” said Deputy Mayor Olesea Pșenițchi.

As a result, the Finance Directorate has recalculated and will present updated revenue and expenditure indicators. The draft budget will be submitted for public consultations on Wednesday, with the process expected to last 15 days.

The capital city did not have an approved budget in 2025 due to political disagreements between MAN and PAS. The 2026 budget has also not yet been approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council due to ongoing political disputes between the factions.
