Agreement between Moldova and the EU on FRONTEX – ratified!

The European Border Police and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) will deploy experts to provide the necessary support to the Border Police in managing the regional crisis, the major influx of migrants and refugees at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, as well as the growing risk of arms and drug smuggling. due to the state of war in the neighboring country. The Chisinau Parliament has ratified the Agreement with the European Union on the operational activities carried out by FRONTEX, IPN reports.

All related expenses related to the activity of FRONTEX experts in the Republic of Moldova will be covered by the European Agency for Border Police and Coast Guard.

Currently, the General Inspectorate of Border Police and the FRONTEX Agency are collaborating on the basis of a working arrangement signed in August 2008, which provides for the fulfillment of a limited mandate by FRONTEX personnel seconded to Moldova in joint activities, having observer status.
