The Minister of Health of the Republic of Moldova, Ala Nemerenco, had a meeting with the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in Geneva. Nemerenco spoke about national efforts to accommodate refugees in Ukraine. The Minister of Health also discussed with Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus the volume of medical services provided to refugees.
“The Director-General of WHO appreciated the generosity of the people of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the comprehensive response of the authorities to the refugee crisis. At the same time, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus confirmed the readiness of the World Health Organization to continue to provide support to the Republic of Moldova in order to cope with the refugee crisis “, writes the Ministry of Health.
During the meeting, the Minister of Health issued an invitation to the Director-General of the WHO to visit the Republic of Moldova. The invitation was accepted by Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
We note that today, May 30, the Minister of Health, Ala Nemerenco, is participating in the 151st session of the WHO Executive Committee as a member.
The World Health Assembly (WSS) approved by vote the nomination by the WHO of Ala Nemerenco as a member of the WHO Executive Committee.
