The thematic exhibition “Discover Belgium!” was opened today at the National Library, organized in the context of promoting European cultural values and principles in our country and on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Belgium.
Elina Bolgarina, head of the Literatures of the World section of the National Library of Moldova and curator of the exhibition, said that it aims to familiarize the general public and visitors of the library with documents from the collections of the National Library about the Kingdom of Belgium and to be part of the activities to promote the history and culture of European countries and European cultural heritage in the Republic of Moldova.
According to the source, the Kingdom of Belgium occupies an eminent place among European countries, being one of the founding members of the European Union and a host of significant European and international institutions.

The exhibition is oriented towards the multi-aspectual reflection of this country, being mirrored in compartments, such as the history of the country, political and economic system; Brussels – the capital of Belgium and Belgian tourist attractions; Belgium – founding member and host of EU institutions; bilateral relations Republic of Moldova – Kingdom of Belgium; Belgian cultural values; UNESCO World Heritage in Belgium; Belgian art of the Renaissance period; Belgian contemporaneity: art, music, fashion, cinema; Belgian literature, XIX-XXI centuries. The exhibition includes 300 books, most of which were published in Belgium.
The exhibition will be open until 21 March.
