Authorities Conduct Over 40 Searches in Northern Moldova Over Electoral Corruption Case

Law enforcement officers conducted more than 40 searches in northern Moldova on Thursday morning as part of a criminal investigation into electoral corruption, illegal political party financing, and large-scale money laundering carried out by an organized criminal group, IPN reports.

The National Inspectorate of Investigation led the operations, collaborating with prosecutors from the Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases, and receiving support from the Special Purpose Police Brigade “Fulger.”

Earlier this week, police conducted around 60 similar searches in southern Moldova, including in Comrat municipality. Investigators targeted several addresses, including public institutions, and detained four individuals, among them the municipality’s deputy mayor.
