Authorities conducted searches at the “Victory” Bloc office in Balti as part of an investigation into electoral corruption

Officers of the National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC) and prosecutors from Balti municipality conducted several raids in a criminal case involving electoral corruption and illegal financing of political parties. According to CNA, the actions targeted the Balti office of the “Victory” Bloc led by Ilan Shor and the homes of individuals affiliated with the party.

“According to the criminal prosecution data, the targeted persons were documented in the process of bribing voters for the referendum and electoral poll to be held on October 20, 2024, drawing up lists of interested persons, centralizing information about them, transmitting their data to third persons/financial institutions outside the Republic of Moldova for the latter to obtain illicit remuneration for exercising the right to vote.

During this morning’s criminal prosecution, cell phones, money, and draft documents were seized from the persons searched and from the party’s headquarters,” reads the CNA statement.

The CNA representatives say that the actions are taking place under the procedural direction of Balti prosecutors.
