The National Anti-Corruption Center, alongside prosecutors from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Investigation Inspectorate, launched searches on October 23 at multiple locations across Moldova. The actions target possible corruption linked to the law granting amnesty on the 30th anniversary of Moldova’s independence.

Investigators are examining active and passive corruption by individuals involved in implementing the amnesty law, as well as potential violations of Articles 91 and 92 of the Penal Code. Authorities suspect that the law may have enabled the illegal release of several individuals sentenced to life imprisonment. During the searches, officials seized documents and other materials relevant to the ongoing investigation.

Officials confirmed that criminal proceedings will continue to clarify all circumstances and gather the necessary evidence.

Previously, Olesea Stamate came under scrutiny after members of the PAS party blamed her for amendments in the amnesty law, which reportedly led to the early release of several individuals convicted of serious crimes.

Authorities continue to investigate and gather evidence to determine the full scope of the alleged violations.
