Berlin Conference – Moldova’s European relaunch

On March 21st, during the meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers with the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, the Foreign Ministers of Romania, France and Germany made an important announcement regarding the launch of a support platform for the Republic of Moldova – “Moldova Support Platform”.

The platform is set to be launched at the international Berlin Conference, which is going to happen tomorrow, April 5th.

”The creation of this Support Platform is another eloquent example of the solidarity of the international community to mobilize as much help as possible for our country,” said Nicu Popescu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova which together with Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and others colleagues, are going to Berlin to attend the Moldova Support Conference.

The agenda of the tomorrow debate will focus also on several critical areas that require immediate and strengthened interventions, such as: humanitarian crisis management, border management and security, energy security, macro-financial stability, relaunching and increasing economic resilience, strengthening the rule of law and support in the fight against major corruption in the Republic of Moldova.

These gestures of solidarity have a very high symbolic load and emphasize that the Republic of Moldova is not alone. Moldova needs support so it could do a reset, a European relaunch. The Berlin Conference offers this premise, and the Republic of Moldova must make full use of it.
