The National Police is investigating several cases where Moldovan citizens were organized and transported to polling stations in Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Turkey on Sunday morning, November 3, to vote. Representatives of the General Police Inspectorate announced this in a press release.
“The national authorities are investigating and collecting evidence regarding air transport activities from Russia to Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. We urge citizens who observe such violations to report them to the single national emergency service at 112,” state the law enforcement officials.
The police reiterated that the organized transportation of voters to polling stations on election day, aimed at influencing them to exercise their electoral rights, is punishable by a fine ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 lei for individuals and from 9,000 to 15,000 lei for legal entities, with or without the deprivation of the right to carry out a specific activity for a period of 6 months to one year.

One of the cases the police refer to involves a video showing an airplane filled with Moldovans heading to Minsk because officials opened only two polling stations in Moscow.
We remind you that on Sunday, November 3, the second round of the presidential elections takes place in the Republic of Moldova. Approximately three million citizens are expected to cast their votes at over 2,000 polling stations. Voters must choose between the two candidates who received the most votes in the first round: Maia Sandu or Alexandr Stoianoglo.
