Lawmakers will hold two sessions this week. On Thursday, Parliament will elect its vice presidents, establish the Standing Bureau, and form the permanent committees.

On Friday, the prime minister–designate, Alexandru Munteanu, will appear before Parliament together with his proposed cabinet. The new government will present its program of action and request a vote of confidence from MPs.

“Today we met with the faction leaders to discuss several matters — the number of vice presidents, the structure of the permanent committees, and the nominations for committee members. We quickly agreed to submit the proposals. The session on Thursday will decide on the vice presidents, the Standing Bureau, and the permanent committees. And, God willing, after the ongoing consultations with civil society, the business community, and parliamentary factions, tomorrow or the day after, if all goes well, on Friday we will hear the candidate for prime minister and his government program,” said Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

The newly elected Parliament, formed after the September 28, 2025 elections, was officially constituted on October 22. So far, deputies have only elected the Speaker — Igor Grosu — and have yet to appoint the leadership bodies.

Following consultations with parliamentary factions, President Maia Sandu nominated businessman Alexandru Munteanu as the candidate for prime minister.

Munteanu has already announced six proposed cabinet members:

  • Emil Ceban – Minister of Health
  • Cristian Jardan – Minister of Culture
  • Valeriu Chiveri – Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration
  • Vladislav Cojuhari – Minister of Justice
  • Eugen Osmochescu – Minister of Economy
  • Adrian Gavrilita – Minister of Finance

The future ministers for Education, Defense, Infrastructure, Internal Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Environment, Social Protection, Agriculture, and the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration will be announced soon.
