The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) officially launched the electoral campaign for the presidential elections and the constitutional referendum on October 20, 2024, right at midnight, with an informational video. In this context, the Commission urges electoral competitors to conduct their campaigns in strict compliance with the provisions of electoral legislation.
“I trust that this campaign begins with responsibility and respect for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” stated CEC President Angelica Caraman.
The CEC warns that candidates and participants in the referendum registered by the CEC are allowed only electoral advertising during the campaign, while political advertising is prohibited.
“We, the members of the Commission, urge all political parties and candidates to promote a fair campaign based on ideas and constructive proposals for the future of our country,” said Mircea Catirau, a member of the CEC.
The Vice President of the CEC, Pavel Postica, addressed Moldovan observers and journalists.

“I urge media service providers, investigative journalists, and observers to analyze and report all cases of illegal campaign financing accurately. Only together with you and every honest voter can we prevent, combat, and sanction these vices of the electoral process,” concluded Postica.
The final day for submitting documents is today, September 20, 2024.
As of Thursday, September 19, the CEC has registered four candidates for the presidency of the Republic of Moldova, with five more applications under review. Additionally, the CEC has registered ten participants for the referendum, while two applications are still under examination. Candidates and referendum participants whose applications are under review will begin their electoral campaign upon registration by the CEC.
