Changes in legislation. A new type of leave will appear in the Labour Code of the Republic of Moldova – to care for a sick relative

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection will introduce a new type of leave into the Labour Code. Employees will be able to use it to care for a sick relative who lives with them.

The new type of leave will be unpaid and its maximum duration will be five calendar days per working year. To take leave to care for a sick relative, it will be necessary to write an application.

The Ministry of Labor explained that the introduction of the new type of leave is related to the harmonization of the legislation of Moldova and the European Union.
